Megan Kelly is a Massachusetts born artist whose music is rooted in deep listening, healing, family, and connection to the land. Raised in Carver, a small town outside Boston, she grew up surrounded by cranberry bogs, farming, animals, cousins, and constant music. “My childhood and my background is very much rooted in family,” she shares. Singing was always present in her life, whether with cousins during the holidays or in chorus growing up. That closeness to land and community still lives inside her music today.
Megan describes her sound simply as “medicine music,” though she admits it can be difficult to explain. Her songs draw from mantra, Eastern yogic teachings, silence, intuition, and what she calls “a form of deep listening.” Rather than approaching songwriting as performance first, her music comes from moments of stillness, travel, ceremony, and lived experience. “There’s something ancient that moves through it in certain ways,” she says. After stepping away from singing for years, music returned to her through her own healing process. “It was this intuitive gut feeling that I just needed to bring back that part of my life.” Soon after, she felt called to pick up a guitar, despite having only played for a few years. What began as personal expression slowly became something she realized she was meant to share. “Songs would start coming through, and I’m like, this feels very special.”
Though naturally shy, Megan continues to move through fear and vulnerability in order to offer her music publicly. Her creative process often arrives unexpectedly, in solitude, altered states, quiet moments in the woods, or even “sometimes in the shower.” Over time, her songwriting has evolved from fragments and melodies into fully formed compositions, alongside a growing trust in her ability to listen inwardly. At the center of it all is a belief that music belongs to everyone. “Everyone has a voice to be heard,” she says. “Everyone has access to a form of art in their life.” Her work invites people back into that remembrance through honesty, presence, and the courage to express what is real.
