Story of Gardenhouse Records

Gardenhouse Records began as more than a label. It grew out of a community of artists, musicians, storytellers, teachers, and listeners who were already gathering around music that felt honest, healing, and alive. What started through friendships, collaborations, ceremonies, festivals, recording sessions, and shared creative work has continued to take root as something bigger: a home for music with purpose.

Our Mission

At its core, Gardenhouse Records is built around the belief that music grows best in the right environment. Like a garden, it needs care, patience, trust, and community. The artists connected to Gardenhouse come from different backgrounds, traditions, and sounds, but they share a common thread: music is not just entertainment. It is expression, medicine, memory, prayer, reflection, release, and connection.

The story of Gardenhouse is also the story of people coming together around something real. Some artists found their voice through personal healing. Some were shaped by nature, family, travel, ceremony, or years of devotion to their craft. Others came through folk, rock, medicine music, spiritual songwriting, South American roots, acoustic storytelling, or raw personal expression. Gardenhouse gives those different paths a shared place to grow.

Gardenhouse Records also grew alongside Gardenfest, a gathering that helped bring this musical family into clearer form. The festival created a living example of what happens when music, nature, community, and intention come together. The label carries that same spirit forward, while giving the artists and the music a lasting home beyond any one event.

Our Background

Gardenhouse Records is rooted in independent music culture, grassroots collaboration, and a deep respect for the creative process. The people behind the label come from many paths, including songwriting, production, vocal education, live performance, ceremony, festival building, recording, teaching, and community organizing. That mix gives Gardenhouse its shape: part record label, part creative network, part gathering place.

The artists connected to Gardenhouse bring a wide range of influences and life stories. Some come from folk, rock, medicine music, South American folklore, spiritual songwriting, acoustic storytelling, classical training, world music, or raw personal expression. Some found music through family, some through hardship, some through ceremony, some through nature, and some simply because music was always there, calling them forward.

What unites the background of Gardenhouse Records is not one genre or one sound. It is a shared respect for music that carries meaning. This is music made by people who have lived, learned, struggled, healed, traveled, questioned, taught, listened, and grown. Gardenhouse gives those stories a place to live together.

Our vision is to become a creative garden for music, a place where artists grow, music is cultivated, community is nurtured, and ideas are shared. Gardenhouse Records is beginning as an independent label, but the larger vision is to become a hub for artists and listeners who want something more personal, more collaborative, and more rooted than the usual music industry experience.

We see Gardenhouse as a platform where artists can have their own space, share their music, promote releases, announce shows, sell merch, tell their stories, and connect directly with the people who support them. Over time, we also envision a membership community with education, collaboration, mentorship, exclusive content, creative conversations, and opportunities for musicians to learn from one another.

The long-term vision is simple: help good music grow. We want Gardenhouse Records to be a place where independent artists can feel supported, listeners can discover music that matters, and the community can participate in something alive. Not polished for the sake of polish. Not built around hype. Built around honest work, real connection, and the belief that music can still bring people together in a meaningful way.
